I can give out items that'll stop death in its tracks. Only one person's been smart enough to actually, you know, ask for one.

[He lounges dramatically.]

It's not my fault that only a handful of you are smart enough to look past the "oh Indulgence is so stupid, what an idiot moron" hearsay. If I was an idiot, I wouldn't be able to run a kingdom.

[ Yeah, but what do people have to do to get an item like that? Well, it doesn't hurt to ask. ]

We can debate what it takes to run a kingdom later, but let's talk hypotheticals, then. What do you ask for an item that stops death? What do ask for for an item that stops an ability from another user after it's been used? What do you ask for an item that can make someone immune from a certain ability?

What do you ask for an item to see a person's alignment?

My only caveats as forced upon me for the fairness of the game are as follows: I can't emulate the powers of my cohorts, I can't create the same item twice, and I can't make anything that cheats the overall game rules.

[He flops over onto his stomach.]

As with anyone here, the bigger the item, the bigger the task. But anyone else will ask you for defection and loyalty and murder for something that I'd only need to ask, say, for some generous PR. Cheating death, since that's about the biggest boon you can get, would be reserved for my team only, but is helping me out really too much to ask for?

[Sigh!]

Anyhow, can't out anyone's alignment but that doesn't mean you can't think of a creative workaround.

[ How much room is on that floatie? Well, it doesn't matter too much because Nonon is swimming over and pulling herself up to sit on Indulgence's back.

[He whines in protest but honestly just kind of accepts it? He's so scared.]

Isn't there some kind of phrase about leading by example or showing not telling? Maybe you could start some kind of trend.

Don't be daft. I try to keep the people who know my alignment to a minimum. Your best chance to get me would have been trying to woo me with items the very first week.

She stands on the floatie and tries to shove him into the pool with her foot. ]

[ She's about to reenact that scene from 300 and kick him into the pit of the pool when an idea hits her. She lifts her foot away from him and goes back to sitting on him. ]

Hey, can you make an item that rebounds a power back to its user?

[Indulgence lets out a whoosh of air but groans, relenting to Nonon's superiority.]

Sure can.

[ She hums. ]

I want that, but you can't make the same item twice... How different does an item have to be?

Different enough that they can be distinguished from one another. Two items can have the same general purpose but work in different ways. The glass I gave Ray and the pipe I gave you both eliminated a suspect from the lineup, but the way they did so were completely unlike one another.

Hmm, okay.

For now, I want an item that'll reflect a power back to its user. I'll come [ harass ] around again if I think of something else. What do you want?

I have a problem; my quirky personality seems to have convinced at least some of my cohorts that not only am I not a competent ruler but that I don't actually care about any of what's going on.

[He scoffs.]

Shows how much anyone knows; if I wasn't taking this seriously, I wouldn't even be here. And then I'd have been the one standing where Patience is. Anyway, my point is, if you already talk with her, could you see about maybe convincing her that I'm not just here for laughs?

[ Oh, that's not as bad as she thought it'd be. That's also kind of... sad? She's not surprised, but it's kind of sad.

Nah. She said that she wasn't interested in being a leader as soon as the notion came up to appoint someone. She sat out for the whole rule-making, game planning deal.

You don't suspect she's up to anything at all?

I mean, I don't get not wanting to be a leader. But I guess someone has to fill the peasant role, right?

[He hasn't even thought about it, is what he's saying.]
