[He should. He knows he shouldn't. But he's about to be rude, and it isn't any fault of Piety for this, only Sasuke's own experiences with the failings of stressed leaders.]
You don't seem to be doing a good job here with any of that.
Yes...I know. I have experience as a leader, but I've never been very assertive. That's why I've failed so miserably to help mediate the conflicts between members of the pantheon up until this point.
[Despite the rudeness, Piety doesn't sound offended. It's a fair statement.]
I handled my responsibilities well, but the legwork of building a reputation for myself had already been done for me by my predecessor when I took over his station very abruptly at his passing. Any audience I needed to appeal to was already willing to listen; I'd already earned that respect. I never expected that to be easy, here, but it's been hard for me--that much is clear by my consistent follower count.
Your count doesn't have anything to do with you. It's the rest of the idiots here who have no spine and won't defect at least once, or who are too stupid to talk the more than two gods.
They don't think about how they can utilize the abilities of different gods to help us reach the goal we want. I think half of them don't even use the abilities they're given even after having a rule about it.
... let's be clear that everyone using their abilities didn't go super well for us.
[just saying,,]
But - Pippin, we're talking because we want to convince people to a god during the last week. They have to believe in that god's message though, right? Or else it won't count. It can't just be for the numbers, or else the world that you build might not even match your vision....
I think you need to tell more people about the world you want - because I think it makes the most sense.
I was hoping that by now, having been at one follower for a few weeks, I would have been given the chance to host. Unfortunately, those of us with higher follower counts have pushed themselves forward for differing reasons. My appearances at trial were a good avenue for me to talk at large, but I've understood that my follower felt it necessary to call on others.
[Damn, now he feels guilty AGAIN. STOP. He has enough guilt on his shoulders without all of this.]
Stop sitting back and letting them walk over you. I know you can pick when you want to host because I challenged Cunning to do it even though he had enough followers.
Host next week. Make it a favor to me. I'll do what you want in return. [A pause.] I'll defect to you.
Please stop running away with your own ideas? If you defect to Piety next week and then get hit with Advancement Opportunity when we're all trying to go to Piety during the last week, we won't get your wish?
Pippin, I trust what you need to do.
If you want to come out next week even when you're not hosting, let's have a tea party. That's how I got Dizzy to come out to play.
I don't want you to defect to me unless you actually want to. And before you make any rash decisions, you should talk to Justice. He has a lot of faith in you...and loyalty is a quality that I'm sure you can respect just as much as the rest of us.
[He nods.]
Regardless of when my turn is, if you'd like, I'd be happy to make an appearance if I'm given the chance to. I'm doing what I can to ensure I can help promote peace in our world regardless of who wins.
[His head turns just a bit so he can give Senri a glare, his hand curling around Senri's wrist. After a moment, he pulls the hand away from his mouth.] I still have time. I... [He grits his teeth. Piety isn't wrong necessarily.]
I don't care about my wish anymore. [This is still to Senri.] Whatever I want back home, I can get it myself. I'll earn it like I've earned everything else. I'm ending with Justice, so I don't care about winning. I said I wouldn't leave him.
[And then he looks back to Piety.] Host. If you're a mediator, we need you sooner rather than later. What are you going to make for your hall of the temple? It needs to be something all the gods can be convinced to enjoy.
Defection is the most powerful tool that you have. Defecting to a good for a week when they're struggling is understandable if you're afraid for their safety. It's also a viable strategy to use it for other means, as well, but ultimately, when you know which god you plan to support in the end, I believe it's ultimately smarter to stay by their side.
[He tilts his head a little, fingers lacing together in his lap.]
After all...having numbers that fluctuate from week to week means nothing. I've been content at one, knowing my final follower is someone that I can count on and trust. Not everyone else is so lucky, so I understand their apprehension.
[This isn't really a slam at him necessarily, but Sasuke takes it as one (because he feels guilty???) and ends up glaring mildly at Piety because of it.]
Then get one of them to host next week with Piety. Tell Beauty to do it.
... but aren't you worried about someone getting hit by Advancement Opportunity, Pippin? How does the last round of voting work anyway? When's our last opportunity to switch?
So we have that Sunday to defect for a final time...
[Sasuke glances at Senri, but his face doesn't really say if he's thinking anything. Also, they are still practically holding hands???? Sasuke never let go, to afraid Senri would try to cover his mouth again........]
I just have to stay away from Justice until then. Even if someone uses Advancement, I'll already be defecting back to Justice for the final tally. It's happened before.
That means whatever god you all decide on in the end, only a few people need to be aligned until the last Sunday. In case someone tries to move them a final time.
[guess they're still practically holding hands then because senri doesn't care enough to let his hand go. it's okay he has a second hand if he needs to make sasuke shut up again
(anna voice) senri has two hands (to make sasuke shut up)]
I still think Bambi's followers are using them at random...
... Pippin, Ray-kun said that your specialty is seeing into people's true natures. What does that mean, really? Do you think you can tell us something about someone's disposition that isn't as obvious from the outside?
Yes, that's right. I can see...a lot about a person that isn't clear to others.
[He reaches up and carefully pulls the mask off from around his face, setting it on the table between them.]
I'm sorry, I hope you don't mind. I know I'm not particularly close to either of you...but I just felt so impersonal when you're both being so considerate.
[.................Why do gods keep surprising him by removing the mask and a) looking normal, or b) looking young, OR BOTH. Jesus. Sasuke doesn't stare for long, but he does keep looking at Piety after giving Senri a short glance.]
Do we have to be aligned to you for you to tell us information about a person's true nature?

You don't seem to be doing a good job here with any of that.
[and this is 100% why senri is here]

As if you're any better?
Be nice to Pippin - he's not like Cunning, he won't punch you when you're being rude.

[that's just to sasuke as senri. sighs. he doesn't try to take his hand back and just shakes his head]
Beauty and Cheri still need to host too - Bambi's fine, if she keeps her lead. I agree with you but....
[those are some of senri's fav gods, and he's a little nervous at the idea of anything happening to them too]

[As for that second question--]
As far as I'm aware, the final announcement of the official ending tally will be given out the Monday following the final week.

W-What? Oh, no...
[Smiling bashfully, Piety puts a hand to his cheek.]
I can tell you anything you'd like. I don't see any reason to keep my opinions to myself or my followers.

.... Mizuki-san.....
But I don't know if there's anyone you want to know about more.
