The mask is cumbersome, though normally I would agree with you. I see nothing wrong with creating something for us to share together. You'd like it, I think. It's different.

There are other ways to learn about people though. Stories. Memories. Things of those nature...

Right, but there's only so much you can say since we haven't spoken before. Or at least that's what the other gods have said so far.

So... what kind of a world do you want to make?

Yes and no. It depends on the question and depends on the way it's said. We can't provide too much about ourselves, but other questions? We can try.

Like that, for example. [A hand comes up, a finger lifted for a flourish.] The kind of world I want to make is one where people are free to live independently and follow their own rules and guidelines to live outside of the expectations set upon them. In short, a world where people may follow their heart and be better than what they've been assigned to be. I want a world where people can live and experience life and laugh and have a good day every day. What could be wrong with a world like that?

[Ah. Dramatic? Like Shakespeare, maybe.]

I want to believe in that but... Sometimes what's in people's hearts is the desire to hurt others. They want to see other people suffer for their enjoyment.

Will those kinds of people not exist?

I believe those kind of people will no longer have a reason to act on ill intentions should they be able to live the life they wish to live. Why does violence start in the first place, Sieg-kun? Is it not because people wish to take action and others oppose of it?

I don't know why it starts.

I just... knew somebody who enjoyed hurting people. Not because they did anything to her, because she could.

...did she have anything to gain from it? What happened?

She didn't. Maybe... just to see other people suffer.

In the end she tried to order my friend to kill me.

...someone said to me that people enjoy worlds because of the good and the bad things, and that you can't know happiness without knowing sadness. I still don't know if I can agree, especially when I hear stories like this.

I don't know if I can agree or disagree when it comes to the balance of good and bad. I was made in the middle of a war and I didn't stay on Earth after it.

... I think most people don't have to deal with that extreme.

If anything, that experience made me appreciate my allies and friends.

So perhaps the world should still have some conflict...if only to really appreciate the good of the world. [Huh.] I always thought people would want things that make them happy. Even if their lives aren't to that extreme, trauma to the heart feels so devastating.

People do like things that make them happy. But they mean more when they can earn them in some way.

... I haven't been alive for very long, so you might want to talk with more than just me about it.

The purpose behind talking to all of you is the different perspectives, Sieg-kun. Your experiences still matter greatly even if you've only been alive for a short time.

Is that why there's such a range of people here?

All twelve of us value different things. That is why there's such a range of people here. We couldn't even really agree on who to bring. You were just the ones who said yes.

Is that what your names are meant to symbolize?

[Sieg nods to himself.]

I just want to stop a well-intentioned but highly destructive wish.

Somewhat, yes. We didn't pick the names but they're all virtues we embody or strongly believe in and align ourselves with for various reasons. I can't think of any of us who could dispute the name.

[...] That's a very good reason to be here, Sieg-kun. Do you believe you can?

Is that why so many of you are worried about Ruin?

I can keep the mechanism far away from people if I don't win. I know I can do that much.

I'd like to win, but that's dependent on a lot of people. I don't intend to die for no reason here.

Ruin's also a bit terrifying, though she's fine with others. Her ideas could be good if her methods and reasoning weren't so...opposing. [Hm.]

I should hope that no one would die here for no reason at all. That isn't the intent here. Though the idea of a wish makes determination easier to hold, doesn't it?

She doesn't seem that bad as a person.

The intent is to find a winner, right? Are you all bound to respect the outcome?

It does.

Perhaps not, but I don't speak with her that often. [...] More or less, yes. The intent is to find a winner to rule over all of us, and we're to follow their orders to run the pantheon. It's why so many of us have conflict over who should rule.

Maybe you should? She seems lonely.

The ruler will also create the world, right? Do you think whoever the winner is will listen to input?

I'll probably pass on that. I don't think she likes me very much either. [There's a nod though.] That's correct. And it depends on who the winner is. Some of us are more likely to listen than others.

Aren't you still going to be with each other after this is over?
