Before all of this, in the old life, I was a homicide detective. People were cruel and malicious and the police weren't able to figure out what was happening, so it was up to us. I know this is how we have to proceed but that doesn't mean I have to like it, or that I can't figure out a way to make the damage less.
For now? Focus on getting allies, most likely. The closest thing I have is an agreement with Sasuke, and he's probably the most unstable person in this competition at the moment, so I'm not going to count on anything except making sure I'm not on his kill list.
The trial's proven how useful it can be to have people who will defend you. In the end, it's just as much about emotions as it is about proof.
That's a good call though...even if I think Sasuke-san might not be willing to speak with so many of you right now. I'd like to speak to him myself, but I really doubt he'll see me.
I don't intend to act on my emotions. I won't say I'll never, but I think the past trial is already an example of how they can get out of hand. We wasted a lot of time with pointless arguing.
...I still don't want you guys to kill people. Itachi-san didn't listen to me and that still makes me really mad, but...because of this? I am worried people are going to start targeting anyone they think can't put up a fight or anyone from one of the leading factions. Even with Itachi-san's fate, I think I'm still the furthest ahead. Or tied for first, at least.
[What are you saying, Love?]
But if it comes to that to keep yourself, and us, safe...what choice do I have?
[SHE! HATES IT!!!]
That's not permission to go out and find people to kill, by the way.
[Love is so mad at Itachi and now will become a little aggro to protect all of her followers bye.]
You wouldn't. I would, remember? [Flatly. Ever-so-flatly.] ...you guys got lucky this time, I think. But I also think you're going to get better at this which means it'll be harder for people to get away with anything. It's all really dicey right now.
...a lot of the people I care about aren't used to this sort of thing, I think. But then there's you. [A very strong and very young boy and it's a lot to think about.] You'll help me protect them if I ask, right?
[No comment on that. Ray might remember what was said in the trial on his own later.]
...I've never had to really lead people in something like this before. I'm usually an advisor. I can help that way, but I need you and the others to act as my hands. And I'll make it work to keep you safe.

[And then:] So what are you going to do now?

[Hm.] And what about your own emotions?

[ew why are you asking him about his emotions]
What about them?

[And it's because she's soft. And has cooties. Apparently.] Are you going to listen to them, or only facts?
no subject
I prefer facts.

...I don't like it, but I think we might need to change our strategy a little to stay ahead.

... To what, exactly?

That's how it is. At the very least, I have no intention of letting myself be killed. [...] Don't worry, I'm not exactly eager to go up on trial.

[A pause.] There's someone else here that might be that person, if you can find each other.
