Yeah, well. Someone has to do the thinking.

[He cares for Luke. He wants to trust that he can make the right decisions. But knowing what he's just done to himself, what might be still weighing on his mind, what awaits the boy if either of them lose...

...

He couldn't do anything to stop Luke last time. He'd never forgive himself if he didn't at least try to step in to things now. Would Luke forgive him if he ever found out? Probably not.

So he would just have to make sure Luke never found out.

He stays silent for a long moment, looking the god over with a tired but determined gaze as he turns the offer over in his mind. He could make it work, but...

Indulgence shared a lot, but nothing about any sort of rules that pertained to himself, or to you.

Could you explain? I'm sure you'd understand why I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into.

Understood. Let's see...

[Mildly frustrating, but that's an answer in itself, he supposes. The god could be pulling his chain out of not wanting to answer, sure, but it could also be because of an inability to answer.]

I assume if you wanted things to be completely impartial, you wouldn't be approaching us individually in the way you did. So does that mean the rules you have to follow are meant more to keep the playing field too unbalanced? [As he sees it, if someone took proper initiative like this, they could be given an advantage to the degree of what they offered in return. But maybe there was a hard limit to keeping someone from outright cheating, even in favor of another.]

As much as it can, for now. But it sounds like we can work on that.

What do you plan to do, then, if you were to win? How would you want to run things?
