[It's nice, out by the fields, with the wide-open spaces and the fragrance of strawberries.]
I said so, didn't I? That I thought I'd like to see what you can do.
I am here on the whim of one of your followers, but I haven't yet decided how long I'll stay.
[She's holding onto the little glass bottle she found at Fortune's tower. She hasn't bothered lugging the treasure chest out here because it's unwieldy among the berries.]
[Ambition eyes the bottle she's holding, then shrugs. She's probably brought it along for a reason - Luna will tell her what that reason is soon enough, most likely.]
I guess we'll just have to see how this week plays out. But if you ask me - staying would be a smart choice. I don't plan on losing this contest.
I don't think any of us plan on losing this contest.
What I'm interested in is the real chance of victory, and how I may best play my role in it. You've been steadily climbing the ranks, but this is a fickle game. Just like when you were creating it, so we are shaping it, and the patchwork may catch all of us off guard.
Fortune... [she plays a little with the bottle, letting that peter off] I wonder if she still has something for us. I found this in her wing, and I'd like to find out its contents.
[She hasn't pulled right ahead, but she hasn't had a super significant drop in numbers, either.]
...oh, is that all? Give it here. [Imperiously, Ambition holds out her hand for the bottle, and when Luna hands it to her she uncaps it to sniff at it.] It's a healing potion. She had some of these with her when we all met for the first time.
That also seemed to be the philosophy Indulgence went by.
[She sounds bemused by it all, or perhaps merely amused. Indulgence sure has been a character, but as the tables turn... well. There's a thoughtful smile as she considers the little potion.]
It's an interesting find, I suppose. Perhaps it will be helpful this week.
I don't know what she was thinking, putting those in there. It's like she's trying to get you all killed. Then again, being nice about it just got Fortune killed, so maybe she's just trying to scare you all into staying away.
That's what she says all the time, anyway. It's like, whatever. She can talk about being strong all she wants, but she's not going to win this game if she doesn't start telling people what they want to hear.
There are different kinds of strengths, it's true. Speaking to a group as strange as this may not be within everyone's means.
[Not including herself. Or Ambition. Not dragging anyone in particular, really -- public speaking isn't for everyone. Public speaking just doesn't usually come with a side of world creation. Life sure has gotten complicated.]
Still, each type has its own draw. There's a reason that people flock to power.
I want to be respected for what I can do. {She crosses her arms.] Who I am under this mask shouldn't matter, although it would help if there were anyone from my world here. But even ignoring that, if I'm willing to do what needs to be done, I should have the power and the respect that goes with it.
That is interesting -- I did wonder at some point why you all wore such masks and took such pains to sort yourselves into these concepts. But it seems like it may have been conferred upon you.
[After all, being a god means essentially becoming a concept; a not-yourself, and something for people to simplify and mold and use at will.
Things are a little different here.]
Do you feel that, thus far, you have been afforded that respect?
[She doesn't notice! Or doesn't appear to notice. :)]
Then what you want is recognition from the other gods, isn't it? After all, we contestants are but visitors here -- once victory is decided, we'll merely be returned to where we are meant to be.

[Because of, you know, the West Wing, obviously.]

She's one to practice what she preaches, I suppose. Even at the expense of followers. We'll see how our contestants take to her methods.
[She seems to be genuinely looking forward to it.]

What form of power do you seek, Ambition?

due to the mask, it's not any different from any other way she's looked at her]
Not yet. But I'll get it once I win.
