[Well -- she certainly recognizes the pomp in the manner and the cadence of the voice, and of course there's the unmistakable flash of the mask -- and Luna blinks at him once, twice, not quite startled but certainly taking a moment to take things in before giving him the same smile as always.]
Well, I wasn't going to leave without a word -- especially since that wasn't my intention.
[They are the worst combination in the world I have to say this again, but at least they're entertaining.]
It is quite a start to the week for you, isn't it?
Did you see--did you see those numbers? Six followers, I started with! Six! I'd be down to one if I hadn't bribed someone onto my team at the very last minute. What in the world is going on?
It is part of the perils of the game, isn't it? That the numbers may change at a moment's notice. A breath of wind and a windfall of luck. And Ambition made quite the appeal this past weekend -- with the people here, it's no surprise to see everyone flocking to Cunning.
You aren't the only one losing your lead.

But I'm glad to hear you were able to pad your numbers.
Oh please. I can't believe so many people fell for that. I can't decide if it's more predictable than annoying or annoying than predictable. But you know what really gets me is the hypocrisy of it all.
[Pacing, Indulgence is back to himself again, gesticulating and grandstanding.]
Everyone making a big fuss about how poor Cunning is going to be stuck with one follower and oh no we just have to help him out. And then look what happens? Everyone takes it upon themselves because everyone's a martyr, so now he's in second place and half of us have one follower in his place!
[He taps the fingers of one hand into his palm pointedly.]
This is why you communicate, people! If you really cared about more than your personal biases you'd make sure you divided yourself appropriately among the weaker ranks instead of oh, uh, giving in to the whims of a tantrum-throwing brat.
There are many children here, and others are very young.
[Because like. There's the one-year-old and the three-month-old and whatever. There's just a lot.]
Of course, they have an excuse for short-sightedness -- they see the problem in front of them, and jump to meet it. Unfortunately, some of the older ones seem to have similar issues. If you look at how the trial has conducted itself week to week... then you can see how this state of affairs came to be.
[It's chaos. It's just utter chaos; entertaining chaos, but well. Here they are.]
I wonder what happens, once there aren't enough of us left to be divided appropriately.
It'll be a bloodbath of the divine kind, I'll tell you that much. I don't intend on being on the wrong end of that division. That's one reason why I need you back next week. You are coming back, aren't you?
I would say we're dipping our toes in already. Once something like this has started -- just like the start of this game -- once first blood has been drawn, it's no longer so easy to take it back. This is a turning point, my king.

But you are also asking me to take a risk. The fewer followers a god has, the more likely it is for us to be targeted. Quite the conundrum.
Because without me, who's going to provide so many helpful items? Not to mention, I haven't been a point of contention. On one hand, I'm struggling to make allies, but at the very least I haven't caused any negative attention, either. I'm an underestimated asset. Soon, I'll have to change that opinion in order to win, but for now...they'd be stupid to let me fall below one follower.
