If you say something and veil it in careful half-truths and things that technically aren't lies, that's still being deceitful, even if it's not outright wrong.
It has to be a choice that you make sincerely - because you believe in the ideals your god embodies, or for some other reason. But it has to be a choice that comes from the heart, not some calculated strategy.
