I'd do away with typical standards, so there isn't a hierarchy to what's accepted or unaccepted. So everyone is equal, despite what societies may have once dictated.
Well, duh, the pantheon would guide it forward. I'm just not going to let some idiot say that certain people are better than others. Progress doesn't have to mean legalized oppression.
[this is all just a little too high-level, but he chooses his words slowly, trying to pin his feelings down.]
I guess... what you're describing, it doesn't sound bad at all. But... well, as long as there's the gods above them, with all the power and stuff, things will never really be equal, you know? If they know about you guys, they'll sort of... make their own different levels, based on what they see, but call it something else.
Okay, well, I can't stop the fact that there are gods. Like, we're just here.
[She waves a hand.]
But if you let Beauty or Sincerity have their way, they'll just say that everyone has to dress nice all the time in their world. And how is that appealing or helpful to anyone? What I want is more than just equality, it's freedom. The freedom to choose and express yourself without persecution.
I'm not saying their ideas are better than yours, or anything like that. Actually, I kind of like what you're thinking of.
[he scoots over to the counter, lifting himself up to sit on it, legs hanging down.]
I'm just having trouble imagining it, because... well, people are people, right? It just seems like you'd have to be pretty heavy-handed with people coming into your world... or... or start from scratch.
[yikes. now there was topic a little too close to home.]
We basically are. It's a brand-new world, and we're a brand new Pantheon. There's nothing to rewrite, it's a blank canvas for us to get things painted.
[This... wasn't inspiring a huge deal of confidence in him. but it was like the other gods he'd talked to—there was issues, flaws, stuff they were just saying would work out—or not. But it was a good chance to change directions.]
What were you like? When you were a mortal. Did you ever lead stuff like this?
I wasn't really different, except that I was, well, just a regular human. I lead people in school, like, on a team. Nothing this grand and definitely not some kind of bullshit crazy death game.

So... everyone would be waiting on the words of the Pantheon?

That's how it feels for me, at least.
