That's very true. I suppose I just assume I'm easier to approach by necessity over pleasure.
[Those self-sacrifical types.]
Actually, I approached those who I felt had an unshakable conviction. It just happened that I also found those who possess that kind of spirit, as well. At least, those were the ones that accepted my offer. Many of them went with other avenues.
[ it's still good-natured, despite what he says. also i forgot to mention it in the offering post itself, but the song this time was definitely one of ishi's. ]
Unshakable conviction though, is it. [ ... a very quiet, wry, and almost self-deprecatory laugh. is that what people think? regardless- ] I suppose if you want to win, looking for such a quality in your followers would be a rather apt approach to it. The dedicated and strong of will are that much less likely to be of fickle loyalties, after all.
[ the words are rather cynical, but his tone isn't in the least critical. his head does tilt though, a slight bit toward the end. speaking of switching sides- ]
That loophole you managed to employ, this last weekend. It was an admirable act, but are either of you likely to face repercussion or further scrutiny from it?
...I don't know. Because I didn't do anything technically wrong, I can't get much more than a slap on the wrist. I think the likely scenario is that the loophole will be made inaccessible in future cases, now that it's been made aware of so publicly.
[Can't have everyone getting away with it, after all.]
I wouldn't be surprised if I'm looked at distrustfully from now on, but my intention is only ever to do the most for others as I can. Not just my own followers, but anyone at all. I believe it's important to show equal consideration toward everyone, regardless of their direct support of you.
That's what I was afraid of, but I suppose we have been getting off fairly lightly, these trials. It'd only make sense that whatever the rules are, they'll start being enforced more strictly, and in the proper spirit. These things can't always be that easy, after all...
[ not to say that possibly sending an innocent off to die was easy, per se, but they'd been willing, and it was better than the alternative.
he huffs a brief, wry breath. ]
You really were telling the truth at the trial when you said you weren't giving up, huh. It might not mean much coming from me, all things considered, but there are still things such as senseless self-sacrifice.
...Anyway. I might not be aligned with you, but I can't say I bear you any ill will- even in the spirit of this competition.
[Piety sighs. There's only so much he can say now about his actions at the trial, their implications, and what it could mean for the future of his team.]
Thank you. Even that sort of gentle support means a lot to me. I hope you and your brother both will be able to remain safe for the remainder of the competition.
[ I say, in a backtag, when we all know he's deda. ]
... You say that, by the way, but what about yourself? Fortune is vulnerable this week, she's said, and she has a statue in the courtyard now too. Is it expected that the gods take part in this as competitors too?
[ 'Will you all be all right,' in not as many words. ]
