INTRO
If you're here, you've probably been asking yourself "hey guys, what is Plasmatio?" Luckily we have an answer for that.
plasmatio is a mythological fantasy game intended to accommodate 40 players. While 40 is what we would love to aim for, we can feasibly run the game with 30.
How did you get here...?
Upon sleeping, your character finds themselves pulled into a dream. At least, it must be a dream, mustn't it? After all, they're asleep. In this dream, they stand in a temple, and before them twelve masked and cloaked figures wait, still as statues. A token rests at each of their feet, and they seem to know what it is they want: they want them to choose. It isn't until the choice has been made and they wake up in another place entirely that they realize it wasn't really a dream at all.
In this game, characters have been summoned by a pantheon of gods from a faraway world to request their help in determining the victor of their contest: which of them shall be the king or queen of their order. Each and every character is promised a boon in exchange for their participation, and it is up to them which god they choose to support...and to that end, which offered reward they consider most coveted. From there they must only decide how far they'll go to help ensure the most lucrative victory.
Characters will be assured at the start of the game that any and all deaths will be reversed once a victor has been decided. In other words, all the gods want your characters to worry about is helping them settle their argument once and for all. Regardless of which ending the game reaches, all characters are assured they will be returned safely home with a gift of participation...but only those supporting the winning god will get the gift they truly seek.
Sounds exciting? Inviting. Let's do it then.
What are the game's basic mechanics?
Unlike the last game run by members of this team (
grimmoired) which most if not all of you were a part of, this game is not based on IC mafia! This game will function more as a murder mystery style game in which the evidence may be harder to pinpoint, suspects will be listed, and your bonds with each other will be what matters the most.
As mentioned on the interest check (which can be found right here), characters are being brought into the game on an ICly willing basis. Characters will start the game knowing that they've either agreed with or have been unwittingly tricked by the gods prior to arrival. "How did we get here" won't be a question heard in this game, and the main thing all characters will have in common is the desire for something the gods can grant them. This can be anything as selfless as wanting to save their homeworld or as selfish as taking over the entire world. Whatever it is, characters must want this prize badly enough to go for the risk of participating in the gods' game.
Essentially, the main mechanic of this game is that at least one IC murder will take place every week. Due to the nature of the gods' game in which they must all compete fairly against one another, all players will begin on equal playing ground. That means there are no special roles being given out to any character.
If there are no roles and no mafia, how do murders work?
Great question. It starts with your mods remembering to unlock the murder proposal page. In Plasmatio, characters will have the IC choice to decide upon which god they wish to align themselves with, what actions they will take to show loyalty to this god, and what is in their best interest to make sure their chosen god wins this contest. The desires held by patrons of the winning god will come into fruition by default. Everyone else...well...perhaps it's best that you do everything in your power to ensure you win, isn't it?
Now, now, don't think it'll be quite so easy! You could rally together to align with the same god right away...but just remember...all of the gods have their own special abilities and gifts they may grant their mortal followers. Keep an open mind as you learn more about each god; certain gods will be more biased toward their believers than others, providing additional help throughout the game.
While murder is, of course, the easiest way to appease your god and earn favor, murder is still completely voluntary! You could get away playing in the game without ever harming another soul and performing other actions that will earn your god's attention.
However. There will be times that incentives, bribes, and even blackmail may be used against your character to ensure they're participating in the game and encouraged to kill! ICly this will come in the form of a god reaching out to your character. OOCly this means that, in the event that no murder proposals have been submitted, we'll be reaching out to players to ensure that someone dies each week.
So what about investigations and trials? How do these work?
Another great question. So let's break down our game schedule.
Our game schedule is as follows:
MONDAY-THURSDAY: Each Monday will begin with a weekly mingle for characters. While there is one temple that serves as the main hub for all characters, each week we will have two (2) rotating locations that will change weekly. This allows players to explore the area, learn more about the gods and maybe even be inspired to kill. These mingles will go up at 9am PST/12pm EST. In addition, sometimes during the week mini-events or other adventures will take place should the gods decide. We will notify players in advance should this occur.
FRIDAY: Normally this would be investigation day! But...you know...the gods truly believe that's a waste of time. Why exhaust yourselves searching for evidence when they can provide a Vision for you?
Every Friday, characters will receive a vision via a dream announcing the dead characters of the week. These visions will encompass the victim's name and the location of their body but not much else. Don't trouble yourselves too much. They'll make all of the proper preparations for the next day...
SATURDAY: Surprise surprise, it's Trial Day. All characters will be required to attend ICly and we do ask that players are available for these days! If you need to miss a trial, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance so we may plan accordingly! Trials will begin at 9am PST/12pm EST and will go until 6pm PST/9pm EST unless stated otherwise. ICly characters will not be able to leave the trial unless ICly dismissed early.
Since we're not hosting traditional investigations, trial days will go as followed. Characters will be presented with five godly alignments as suspects to choose from. One or more of these will be correct while the others are simply people the gods have selected to be on trial. ICly and OOCly, only the factions will be given! Characters will have the length of the trial to perform their own investigations using tools presented by the gods, piecing together information and coming to a consensus of who the culprit is.
This is where it gets tricky. While you may be able to narrow down a person...can you narrow down their faction? Remember; you will be voting specifically for a god whose follower you will be dismissing from the game. This is where it's more important than ever to learn about each other and find where everyone aligns themselves.
IC voting will also be live at the start of the trial and close at the end.
Once the vote is closed, we will announce that evening who has been selected...and then...the Judgment Hour begins.
SUNDAY: Sunday will be a day in which all game participants may mingle with one another, discuss the status of the culprit (guilty or innocent) and may even be allowed to change the outcome of the pending execution. Ah...see what we mean about the gods having biases? Sunday is a chance for characters to appeal to their gods, offer sacrifices or deals in exchange if they truly wish to change the outcome of things. It may be possible that the sentenced party isn't who's truly killed at this time.
In addition, on some Sundays your gods may reach out to you and confirm you still wish to align with them! You will be free to change your alignment at this time, and will then have to wait until the next alignment confirmation comes about.
Align yourselves well, everyone.
This cycle repeats until we hit an ending to the game!
So what does all of that mean?
TL;DR, we have a mingle Monday-Thursday, no investigation Friday, Trial and Investigation are rolled into one on Saturday along with a vote for someone to be executed, Sunday is Deals Day and Monday morning is when we announce who's actually dying.
This means that everyone is at risk of being eliminated! Please keep this in mind when apping into the game. Even if your character is not voted for, it is possible that other characters will make the right deals and turn the tides.

VOTING
As noted above, before the end of each trial characters are required to vote! Not voting is heavily frowned upon and if this occurs your character will be killed off! The only exception will be if you let us know ahead of time that you will be unavailable for any particular trial. Please try not to miss several trials or two trials in a row.
There will be a special screened post for votes during each trial. There will be comments to vote for culprits and these will be linked with every trial for ease of navigation.
Additionally, we will be selecting our five suspects on late Thursday evening/Friday morning at the earliest. We will privately reach out to those we've selected to let you know that your character has been chosen and confirm you will be available for the trial. Your character will be at the risk of dying, but who isn't at this rate?

FAQ
What is the pacing of the game?
Our game will be running on a 1:1 schedule and functioning on PST as the mods are PST. Please refer to the above timeline for when important posts will go up.
Do I have to be present for every trial?
If something comes up and you are unable to be present for a trial, please let us know in advance! We prefer 48+ hours in advance, but if you come to us really early before the trial starts or in the first hour of the trial we will be a bit lenient. If you do not let us know in advance, you will be killed off in-game.
How long will the game last?
We're aiming for a minimum of six weeks, a maximum of eight weeks.
Should a player need to leave the game prior to endgame, please speak with the mod team and we will discuss the next steps with you.
If I die early what happens next?
We will have a graveyard for characters to continue playing in and participating in! You can do open thread on the main post, or you may have private conversations with other dead characters.
The graveyard for Plasmatio will also have their own special roles in this competition between gods.
Private conversations?
Private conversations! Sometimes your character (or a group of characters) will want to get together with people to spend time together or share information or whatever. This would become a private conversation that isn't shared with the game at large. Please check out the private conversations page for information on how to set up journal filters and more.
How active do I have to be?
Frankly, we like to see that players are participating either via weekly mingles, private threads, or both in addition to participation in trials! The game functions best when all players are active and engaging, so please keep this in mind when apping in! We ask that your time be managed well. If we notice that a character isn't really present for weeks, we do reserve the right to place your character up for killing via AC kill.
How do I contact the mod team for any questions/concerns/murder plans?
You may either private-plurk Danielle and Britt (
entrappings and
bloodthirstiest respectively) together, or you may create a Discord chat with the two of us! Our discords will be listed on the mod contact page and in the group chat.
Discord?
Yup. This format worked so well we're doing it all over again. This game will primarily use Discord for its communications! We will still use plurk to link mingles and trials and events, but we will host a Discord server for the game to organize these elements as well and have everyone in one environment.

RULES
1.) Please be nice! This is a game specifically created with the intention of all of our friends playing together in a fun environment, so we would really love for our friends to treat each other well. Please remember that IC =/= OOC and while murdergames can be competitive we ask that everyone treats everyone else with respect.
2.) Please be active! Yes, we've said it like six times in this page alone but this is a Very Big Thing!
3.) Your factions should begin as a secret! Characters ICly will not know who is aligned with whom, and they won't even know what others picked upon game start. It's up to you to ICly discover who has chosen which god, but for the sake of fun and not metagaming, etc, please don't disclose this OOCly and cheat the system.
4.) Keep in mind that this is a murdergame which means your character is just as likely to die as the next! Whether that's in week one or week six, if your character is chosen to be a victim that week they will be sent to the chopping block. Additionally, due to the Deals Sunday mechanic, your character may be chosen to die if another character meets certain criteria to swap out the chosen culprit. We will notify you in advance if this happens, and we will have other things for the dead to do.
5.) Remember that powers are nerfed except for what comes from your patron god and what you choose. While your character may be the strongest most powerful person in their canon it will not mean much here. Oops.
6.) Finally, if at any time you have concerns or feel uncomfortable about something in-game please contact us! As this is a game of our friends, we hope that you guys will come talk to us immediately so that we can get things straightened out and help where we can.
