You could say that, yeah. [There's a thoughtful hint to his tone.] It's the blade I've used for years even before the ascension. I'm kind of surprised it followed me here since it was a gift, but I can't complain too much. It's been useful.
If it is one with some attachment, and of an appropriate age-- then perhaps it has a spirit of its own, as well? We cannot do much on our own, as weapons, but those of us who had masters would certainly follow if we were able.

This is a blade I wouldn't use on most people, but I think you might be a good challenge for it.
We generally are altered by such things, yes, but- it does not always mean the loss of our memories, and we do not disappear unless we're destroyed. If it had a spirit prior to reforging, it would simply take a new shape.
