Yes. Ideally...I want to win on my own merit. But having not had a chance to host yet, I don't appear to be a very appealing candidate for many of you. Making sure that the world we craft going forward is one of balance and harmony is very important to me...so I had to make sure that I did what I could if my own merit proved not to be enough.
[His voice is soft and kind.]
Cunning can be abrasive, but he's always been kind to me, and he has the commanding sort of authority that I know I lack with my tendencies for passivity. In the end, the two of us both want to lead fairly and make sure every member of our pantheon has the chance to hold equal responsibility in their station. It made sense to approach him.
[ Now that has him thoughtful. Yu is quiet for a long moment. ]
What would being the leader of the pantheon mean to you, Piety? This contest was created for that exact reason. Are you saying that if you won, you'd try to keep things as equal as possible, even if you had the opportunity to seize greater power?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm after. When I was alive, as a mortal, it was my job--my whole life's purpose--to serve as an ambassador of peace. What's important to me isn't the power, it's the platform. I try to learn the best in everyone, so I can help them best utilize their strengths when their strengths can maybe be hard for others to see.
[He chuckles a little sadly.]
But...I'm afraid I've never been assertive enough to carry myself when I'm being ignored...and that's been my problem in this pantheon. The more the group conflicts, the less my voice is heard and the less effective my ability to mediate.
Exactly that, yes. I'm glad that you think so. I was worried...that because of some of his more radical ideals, people might misunderstand my intentions. But I truly believe that working together, the two of us will be able to appeal to all of the pantheon.

If I'm honest, I think the two of you would do a good job.
