They are! Everyone's been giving me different origami figures...it's been amazing. Almost like everyone is working together, even if they don't realize it.
[Justice takes a deep breath, then resolves himself. He can do this! It takes him a bit of time--the way that Justice has his robes on his whole head is swaddled in cloth, but eventually everything's off and on the floor, and what Ray's left with is--]
...I do like them, Mira and Eric. I don't blame...how little Eric trusted me. It just made me so sad, how he was always yelling at me, thinking I was going to do something awful to them.
[He looks down.]
I didn't have any memories, so they were my whole world, even if we were strangers.

Yeah...I know. I'm already seeing a lot of what there is out there, through all of you. I really, really can't wait to see more.
[...]
I know that I want a world that isn't cruel, where people don't get hurt and where everyone can have a family, but that doesn't mean...I won't take the bad, too. I'll take all of it.
... The place I come from isn't kind. It's not even a place where people were meant to live in, for that matter.
But... in spite of that, I think I'd still choose to be born into this life than another, even if it were in a better, nicer world. Because if I were born into a different life, I wouldn't have the family I have now—and they're worth all the cruelties of the world.
And because the world is cruel, that makes the good things in it that much more meaningful. I've seen people fight back against atrocities and terrible odds; I've seen them make miracles happen.
[...]
So you're right. It's not about leaving out all the bad and taking only the good. It's about giving people strength and a reason to hope.

I-I will! Once it's big enough, I'll put it out on display in the lab for anyone to see! Someone even built a robot guardian to protect it for me!
[And saying that seems to remind him of something, because he hesitates.]
I also wanted to ask you something.

What is it?

Since we're friends...can I take my mask off around you from now on?
no subject
Huh? Yeah, sure.

And you promise not to laugh at me? You won't run away just because I look strange?

he holds up a hand.]
I promise.

Okay...okay!

You really made a big deal out of nothing, you know that?

[Justice hesitates, and then his arms relax, and he giggles.]
I thought...I really thought everyone would stop wanting to talk to me once they saw.

Hey, Justice. Can I tell you a bit about my home? I don't know much how you already know, though...

I'd like to hear about it--the way...the way that you'd tell it.

[Justice is quiet for another moment, thoughtful.]
Thanks, Ray. I won't forget about any of that. I'm glad you told me.
