There's some other saying about hard work and things being worth it... I don't remember, but getting a free wish without having to put the work in sounds like a cop-out to me.
[Not that he would've turned it down? But may as well use this opportunity to throw shade at everyone else. He smiles.]
All my sins? I'd be on my knees for a while then. You into men begging for forgiveness?

It's because of the name, right? It does make me sound like some kind of total prude. But, really, it just means that I'll wait as long as I have to in order to get what I want.
Eh, I suppose that's part of it. But like any of the other names, the concept of patience can mean a lot of things. It's not inherently one thing or the other.
[But he ponders her question for a moment longer.]
It's more that we've got something in common, you know? You didn't come right out the gate with all this. You made me work for it. There's more to you than what's on the surface.
[There's another long pause. He lets his eyes wander over her again.]
I think you mean fourteen. I'm still a part of the pantheon, you know.
[It's a baker's dozen of gods!]
But that's beside the point. You're not considering that the best way to become a god isn't to by waiting for a position to open, but replacing one who's since...retired.
I'm sure someone will get mad about it. After all, to any other god, it's an insult. Even if she's competition, it's going to make the rest of them shake, wondering if they're next. If there's a god killer in the crowed, they're clearly too dangerous to put too much trust in.
[In a flash her hand comes out and grips around his chin.]

[She lays her head down, folding her arms beneath her cheek.]
And I don't forgive...easily.

Guess I'm in trouble if I do die then, huh? I guess it depends on what you consider a sin, though.

[Can this get any hornier?]

[Newt, meanwhile, blissfully unaware of this alternate timeline where his dingdong is a better pianist than he, lets out a low chuckle.]
You know, you're dirtier than I anticipated. Mind you, that's not a complaint. Just an observation.

So what do you want, exactly?

[She lets him watch her. Without being able to see her expression, it still seems like she's enjoying the attention.]
no subject
Both, but... Let's start with me.
no subject
[She gives a slight giggle, pressing a finger to her masked lips.]
I like you.
no subject
You mean you like-like me? Gosh, I'm flattered. Good news, though. You don't have to live up to your name with me.
[He winks not in a creepy way.]
no subject
[But she doesn't sound mad about it, just amused.]
You should know that when I like a guy...I tend not to let them go so easily.
no subject
[He's not super duper sure he'd be cool with that, but sure, let's flirt with the idea for now.]
I'd suggest we elope but we haven't even kissed yet.
no subject
[It's fine!]
But I think you'll find that there are other prizes on the table outside of what any single god can give you. Just don't tell anyone; it's a secret. ❤
no subject
Don't worry, I'm good with secrets.
[As she may have noticed by now. Maybe. He's also slipped up like a thousand times, but no one's called him on it yet, so. It's fine.]
What do you mean? Isn't the prize at the end of this a wish? That sounds pretty potent to me.
no subject
[You wouldn't like her when she's angry.]
Let me put it this way: would you rather have a wish granted, or be the wish granter?
no subject
You sure there's room in the pantheon for that? Thirteen's a crowd.

Oh, Patience.
[There's a smile, and then he glances at the door. As if it matters. He doubts Patience would let anyone bug them right now.]
I've got a secret for you, too. The others can't hear us, right?

If I get my way, Ruin won't be around for much longer.

[He dips his head like he's going to kiss her cheek, but he lingers for a long moment and then pulls back again.]
I've never killed a god before. Is that the type of crime that would go to trial?
no subject
[In a flash her hand comes out and grips around his chin.]
So that's why you...don't...get...caught.
no subject
I like the sound of that. Being feared by even the gods.
[His hand moves to drum his fingers lightly against her wrist.]
Will you help me?
