[She'll let him get away with his boastfulness; that's what she's been doing all this time, after all. It really doesn't bother her how pompous her current king is. That's not the important part for the moment.]
I suppose you were all aware that this could happen -- though not the exact details of it. Am I correct?
[There's been a lot of talk lately about how new all of the gods are to the job...]
I do wonder if this is an opportunity.
[There are a lot of implications behind that sentence. But she places it down delicately as one of the flowers she leaves in the offering bowl, and lets him take it as he likes.]
[On the other hand, she's almost always perfectly still, clear and calm water over darker depths. She merely leans forward, just a little bit, and holds his gaze.]
I'm sure you're aware. We've been speaking for some time about how the number of gods may be reduced -- it was a theme this past trial. There are those of us impatient to cut down on the numbers.
What stopped these plans was, of course, the will of the majority. There are many among the gods and contestants who would rather find a harmonious solution. The other factor was lack of information. Now that we have the information...
Have I mentioned yet how much I like the way you think?
[Luna is his best girl. Wow. Indulgence practically somersaults backward up onto his feet, but despite his fidgeting, doesn't immediately jump to the most impulsive course of action.]
Let's not move too hasty. I'm all for getting things done quick, but I think if we see how alive she still is in another week will be a pretty good indicator of the state of things. It's tempting, real tempting, to capitalize on that right away, but if someone else does the dirty work for us and our name continues to stay clean? Hey, even better for us. Let someone else risk taking the fall for it. Meanwhile, we keep gathering ranks.
I simply like to take care of things that get in the way of my most important goal. I suppose we have that in common.
[She's always been understated, this slender robot, but she works well with those who are her counterpoint. She moves best as the moon to someone's sun.
There's something freeing about it.]
Evaluate the risk. Yes, I think that may be a good option for this week -- see whether anyone is daring enough, and whether there is anyone defending her despite not being of her following. Though, I do wonder: you and your colleagues should have provisions for the death of a vulnerable god, shouldn't you? What happens when there is no god to call for payment?
I'm sure that there will be some sort of action. I doubt that every god is levelheaded, and we know already that not every follower will consult with their deity, or be able to pass up the opportunity to advance their wish more quickly.
[She's quiet for a moment, thinking it through.]
It's true that we can leave it up to others for the moment. But if Fortune is killed through whatever means, the game will change, as will the stakes.
Gods, I'm sure, will work harder to hold on to their followers. Those who love the peace will cling harder to their gods and each other. It's something to prepare for.

[His fingers drum out different tunes on the boards on which he sits, clearly unable to keep himself too still for any particular length of time.]
I'm listening.
[And sounds intrigued, to boot. This boy loves him some opportunities.]

What would you like to do with Fortune?

[The "and I'm always right" is heavily implied, of course.]
I'm sure if people act out against her in a way that nobody's expecting, a whole lot of do-gooders are gonna start scrambling.
[Indulgence rubs his masked chin.]
Eh, someone'll take care of it. Not really our problem right now. Wouldn't waste too much time thinking on it.
