[The hippogriff is mostly monochrome, silver but for the darker feathers at its head, and small and sleek. It's the first time she's used her power on herself, and being able to fly really is a fascinating thing. Watching the world drop away--
And landing in the silence, a familiar and peopleless sort of weight. She lopes gently on all fours around the platform, examining the makeup of it. She'll take a closer look at the statues first, why not.]
[The statues are made of marble, although the laurel crowns they wear seem to be made of actual laurel, and the bundles they hold are made of actual wood. They circle the hole in the center of the platform, staring down at it with blank gazes.
Something light purple glints from within the bundle held by the leftmost statue.
However, in order to get it, Luna may need actual hands.]
[She'll glide a little on the platform, gently poking at things with her beak, but the purple definitely catches her eye. Also, as for needing hands -- this is why she's a hippogriff. Will talons work for this?]
[If she's very careful about how she finagles it, possibly. The purple thing is caught between some of the branches held by the statues, and the statues' arms are positioned such that there isn't a lot of wiggle room to move them around - the wood slides well enough back and forth, but can't just be picked up without sliding it out of the crook of the statues' arms first.
With her usual sized hand, she might be able to get it. Or she could try and grip with her talons to slide the wood - and thus the purple thing - free.]
[Luckily, she isn't a full-grown hippogriff and is also unnecessarily patient -- she'll try as many times as she needs to in order to untangle this. She also has a beak, luckily, so with a combination of that and the talons and possibly just removing some wood, she's going to go for the purple gold in the wood pile Olympics.]
[Eyyy, a buff crystal. She has no idea what the hell this thing is, but it kind of reminds her of some of the crystallized nanocells she's seen before. The fact that it can interact with her anatomy probably means... well, who knows what it means out here.
She's going to hop back down and check out the hole the statues keep staring at (the aerie?). Anything interesting down there?]
[The whole stretches down, and down, and down. It's not wide enough for her to be able to fly down there properly, but it would probably be a long fall.]
[It's mostly empty, aside from another statue! It's mostly identical to the ones on the center platform, except for a green gemstone inlaid at its neck.]
[Oh hey. That's kind of interesting. She'll dig her talons in to anchor herself on the statue and wait to see where the elevator leads. Probably inspect the tower on the way down to see if there are any other openings for an enterprising hippogriff to scoot inside.]

there do not seem to be any openings on the exterior of the tower on the way down.
however, the platform drops her down to the entrance of the tower, minus the uh. dead people. there are no dead people there. it hovers just above the ground, waiting.]

Oh, well, the main entrance works too, and it is a good thing that it is not full of dead people. Even Luna might hesitate about that. She takes a brief moment to preen her feathers back into place from the descent before taking off and flying towards the entrance. Anything notable here or should she go on in?]
[Nothing particularly notable outside! But on the inside...
The entry chamber into the tower is sparse - the center of the room is a stone walkway. Four statues stand on pedestals in the corners of the room, the pedestals rising up from the gloom.
There is another door set along the far wall, opening further into the tower.]
The next room is also pretty empty. (It's empty of dead scholars too, thank god.) But across a gap on the right side of the room, there's a locked chest and a set of stairs.
Anyway, since the coast is clear, Luna's going to fly-hop over that gap and investigate the chest. What's up with that lock? Is there any way to pry or jimmy it open or are we on a keyquest now.]

The gemstone sinks into the statue - a moment later, there's a rumbling sound, and the platform she's on begins to descend at a steady pace.
