Yup. I used to hate it as a kid. [To the beach! He leads them to a good spot before he sets the box down and just flops in the sand to start going through the box.] Saved me a few times though since I can also tell if a lock's tampered with or if it's a trap. Same with picking up monsters and demigods that're nearby. All of my abilities are because of him, but my skill's all my own.
Yeah. Thalia used to think it was really cool and made me do it whenever I had the chance. [There are a lot of fireworks, and Cunning seems to have a lighter of some sort.]
[She watches the firework until it cracks into life, gazing up as the color sails through the air. She understands the significance of that 'was' all too well.]
Oh yeah, she was. Hands down one of the coolest people I ever knew. [He's grabbing another firework, positioning it to light.] And one of the bravest...sacrificed herself for us and everything. That tree on the hill used to be her until she was revived. That was a weird time.
As she was dying, her dad encased her spirit into the pine tree. The tree started dying because it was poisoned a few years back in my world, but when it was healed with the Golden Fleece the tree revived and so did she. She didn't age a day during all that time.
Yeah. We fought, she kicked me off a cliff, real sweet reunion. I didn't see her much after that because she ran off to join the Hunters of Artemis and I had other things to be doing.
[She gives a shrug. Her eyes don't leave the sky as she watches the burning colors soar through the air. Somehow, knowing that he's already aware of at least some of this makes it easier to talk about.]
More normal, yeah, but I'm not sure I'd call it happy. I don't really think it's on your level of bullshit, but...
I was hoping that wasn't just for show. [There's a hint of a joke in his tone.] When'd you start learning? Never picked up music myself. Not my skill set.
I don't know if that'd be right for me. A little too...[He waves a hand as if he's implying it's a little too weird for him.] But that's kind of cool. Shows some dedication.
