They seem very curious about me. They have many questions. It isn't unexpected.
[A pause, and then:]
In most cases, their information inscribed on their statues have proven more interesting than the short conversations I've had with them, though those haven't been unpleasant.
You think the inscriptions are telling the truth? [Cunning sort of sees them as legends, something to think of and possibly fear but not something to be entirely sure of yet.] Some of them have been pretty outrageous. Seems like you're not the only non-mortal we picked up.
We wrote 'em. [Shrug!] So some of them might be more accurate than others.
Can't say we had much of a criteria. As gods, we have free reign to check out the multiverse or whatever. We picked places at random, did a little research, took our chances and contacted you. You're the ones who said yes.
Some of them are kind of jerks. [There's a light laugh then.] It was mostly random selection. There were some people we passed up over others, but do you really think it's that strange? We're not the first immortal beings to contact people through their dreams.
Some research, Ava. Some of us knew what we wanted more than others. Besides, that just makes the play field a little more even across the board.
[A good question though.] I saw some potential in you that I wanted to see up close and see how far you could go. Do you consider yourself a cunning person?
[Guy kind of sounds like a dick.] Well. For six whole weeks you won't have to see him again. Instead you're stuck with the rest of us. Think that's a fair trade?
Neither do I. Why else do you think I picked you? [A wave of both hands into a sort of shrug.] I need strong, determined contenders who aren't gonna be afraid to play a little dirty and bide their time to get the best results. Don't prove me wrong.

[And then this place happened.]

Tell me about the people here. First impressions.

[They have more complete information than she does, she assumes.]
What were your criteria for selecting participants?

[There's a curious, almost skeptical look as she responds.]
That seems like a strange methodology. Was it truly a random selection?

[But, hm.]
Why did you want to receive my patronage?

I haven't thought about it. I haven't considered what kind of person I am.

He is... cruel. He thinks of me like a possession.

[As for the other question...]
Before coming here, I saw him each day.

I don't intend to lose.
