Hehe, then come on, An-chan. It's time to settle in. Maybe I should've brought popcorn...
[but senri will still pull away, but also gesture for antoinette to come join them?? he'll go to sit with tamaki, though he'll wait for permission or invitation to do more than just exist besides him for the moment
he'll show him the case - apparently they're watching Your Name]
Seen this one? I like it a lot. It's really pretty, and really good.
[Antoinette jumps onto the bed, squirming to sprawl herself over Tamaki's lap. Tamaki leans against the headboard and the TV descends from the ceiling again so Senri can put in the movie.]
I haven't, no. [He looks curious though, peering at the box questioningly.] But I trust your taste. Do you actually want popcorn? I could summon some...[That is to say, he uses his free hand to fluff up one of his pillows next to him which is apparently meant for Senri.]
[this tv is still so much. senri will move to insert the movie before going to join tamaki right at the pillow that's been offered, settling against his side familiarly again]
[He lets Senri settle and leans against him just a bit.] I'm not particularly hungry, but you're still a guest, you realize. [A grin, but it's more friendly and less host.] Your wish is my command as always.
[dumb. senri is just going to laugh quietly at that - ]
Then maybe just a bowl for us to share if you change your mind - it'd feel a little more authentic, right? We haven't been able to go to an actual movie theater or anything.
But I like the charm of this, too. I couldn't whisper commentary to you in a theater.
You're right. None of the wings have created one which is a shame. [But a bowl of popcorn materializes in Senri's lap instead. The movie starts and Tamaki cozies up to Senri as much as he's allowed.]
The intimacy makes it a more unique experience anyway, doesn't t?
[as much as he's allowed is essentially as much as he wants to??? to be honest senri probably just laughs and will rearrange tamaki's arm himself so it's around him and he can nestle into tamaki's side with the bowl of popcorn]
Yes. [That's fine, he'll keep an arm around Senri and the other idly scratches Antoinette behind the ears as he stares at the screen, popcorn next to them.]
...things will be better tomorrow. [An odd comment, but he doesn't elaborate.] Are you going to tell me what this movie's about, or do I get to be surprised?
[senri peers up at him a little curiously at the comment but... well. maybe it's a god thing]
I think it's best seen as a surprise. It's really pretty, and I loooove the music. It's a really sweet, romantic story - with lots of action, too. I don't think you'll be bored.
[and he'll just pop one piece of popcorn into his mouth
before offering one up to tamaki even though he said he wasn't hungry]
[It's both.] I'm never bored with movies, actually. I like everything. But romance is probably my favorite. [Well that's fine. He's distracted enough he opens his mouth automatically for Senri to feed him.] My father used to send us Japanese DVDs so my mother and I could see what the culture was like.
[feeding tamaki is easy, so is resting his head against him to look at the screen again right after]
There's a lot of themes in here that resonate with Japanese culture. I like Western shows and they're my specialty for performing, but this one shows a lot of symbolism....
[the ties that bind people, red strings, musubi....
[This is…nice. It's comfortable and relaxed and sort of in-line with most of his fantasies. Not that Senri needs to know that. Senri doesn't need to know that Tamaki's kink is cuddling. Anyway he's listening and seems to perk up a little.]
Western shows fascinate me, too, but this is still a novelty. [Even after living in Japan for three years.] Kyoya used to come with me and show me all sorts of places to see things I wanted, but there's so much to cover. But symbolism means a lot. [He's still listening to the movie and watching closely, but he's letting one hand hold Senri and the other goes still on Antoinette.]
[senri totally doesn't need to know that, because sometimes two really good friends will just settle in for a movie together while cuddling in bed along with a dog. sometimes two really good friends will just get really domestic to try to ignore how awful everything is!]
Mm-hmm. You'll see it like -
[he points to the split second of a red string of fate tying Taki and Mitsuha together in the opening music sequence]
That. I love that.
[senri may or may not know this movie by heart - but he'll still smile as he watches it unfold all over again, though he peers up at tamaki to watch his reaction too]
[Blinking in surprise, he sits up a little to get a better look at the screen.]
That's the string that ties you to another person, isn't it? Your soulmate. [Western concepts to an Eastern theory.] That no matter what, you're bound to meet that person somehow. Right? [He tilts his head.]
[moe.... senri just laughs a little bit, shifting ever so slightly as tamaki does so that he can still move as he wants to but senri gets to stay close]
The Red String of Fate...
Well, I don't know, Tama-chin, I guess we'll have to see.
[senri guards spoilers with his LIFE]
I guess I'm not surprised that you recognize it, if you like romance. It's one of my favorite tropes too. The kind of person that you don't want to be without...
Hey…[Pouting. He's the type of person who likes spoilers but also will guard his own spoilers with his life because Tamaki's an idiot that way. But he relaxes again to watch the screen.]
It's a fun thing to think about, isn't it? That you could be connected to someone else in the world and that someday you'll meet. It's lonely, I think, missing another half, but at the same time it gives hope to a "someday" sort of future. "Someday" you'll meet someone who will love you unconditionally and be the person you're meant to be with.
[He goes quiet for a second to watch the film.] It's a little exciting to play pretend and imagine scenarios in which you'd meet the one you're meant to be with.
I did that a lot. Every time that it started getting cold, actually, and I would see my friends getting into cute relationships with people that they met. Being able to hold hands with someone, and snuggle up next to them once the temperature started dropping - dates to go see the lights, share hot cocoa, maybe go ice skating...
[it's always the winter that makes senri crave intimacy the most, and he's at least been able to recognize that much. even now just thinking about it makes him unconsciously cuddle a little closer to tamaki even as he keeps his eyes on the screen]
... I never thought I'd actually get it - and I think that's why life can be really surprising.
[the thought is solidified as they watch mitsuha - or apparently someone in mitsuha's body - go through the motions of her life out in the rural parts of japan]
Kotatsu…[It maybe seems like a random thought, but it's what Tamaki thinks of in the winters.] Sharing one with someone, and nabe! Everything that means being close to someone important can be found in the winter months. It was one of the things I wanted most when I first got to Japan.
[And then Kyoya crushed his dreams. Rude. Nevertheless he's thinking on that.]
…do you suppose that makes Shishimaru-kun your soulmate? [It's a soft, idle question but there's still some weight to it. Curious. Wondering. But he's focusing on the film and he makes a face.] She seems confused.
[ . . . tamaki is. so cute and so stupid. senri's trying his hardest not to just fucking laugh at him and his weird understanding of japanese culture
that said - ]
... Taka said it might be possible to have multiple soulmates. Someone who understands you really well at first glance might be one soulmate, but you can have another in a different context. I think... Merriment is one of his soulmates.
[or well - those were taka's words. but senri doesn't continue on, as if he doesn't want to press tamaki into thinking too hard about it, into feeling a weird obligation
[DON'T LAUGH AT HIM HE'S TRYING HIS BEST but also as we've established Tamaki's an idiot. He finds that answer to be interesting though.]
Multiple red strings? [Nope, now we're veering in the wrong direction.] I think I can understand that. It's rare to have people who understand you completely, but those people are incredibly special. They might even clash with you, but…they still understand and will do what they can for your happiness. Even if it's against their own best interests.
[Hm. He stops talking about that though and seems to have fallen into his own thoughts as he watches the movie.] …would you prefer the rural life, or the city life?
... something like that. Sometimes I wonder if I get to have more than one soulmate too, but I wonder if that's just me trying to be greedy. But... I think it's possible to meet a lot in your life that could be really special to you, in different ways.
[he says, cuddling with a god on a sunday evening]
Mm... sometimes I want to see the rural areas, and how pretty they are - but I'd prefer the city in the end. I like how fast everything is..
If anyone deserves more than one I believe it's you. You have more than enough love to give to people that it only makes sense. I've met several people in my life that complete me, so I believe it's possible, too.
[...] Last summer, Haruhi was sent to work at a pension in Karuizawa. We went after her and spent some time there as well. It was quiet there, but I learned a lot. [Hm...] Things change in cities rather quickly and there are all sorts of fun things to see and do at any given moment, but I feel that rural areas are best for learning about people and ways of life.
.... well, if I'm allowed to have multiple soulmates, and you're allowed to have multiple soulmates, maybe there's some overlap.
[it's just a quiet reflection. noncommittal. 'an overlap' is easier to say than 'i wonder if i'm lucky enough to have one of my soulmates be you'.
but.]
That sounds like it would suit you too.... For some reason it's easy to imagine you in a nice house in a rural area. Maybe with a beautiful garden? I don't know if you know how to cook, but you seem like the type that would get a lot of satisfaction from growing your own vegetables.

[super unhappy!! but admittedly
he'd rather not deal with unhappy things for a little bit. he turns back to Tamaki at the question and offers up a smile]
Want to watch a movie? To help get our minds off things, even if it's just for a little bit.

It's...been a very tiring weekend. [He can admit that, and he's trying to be better about actually expressing that.] That sounds nice, actually.
