Me, I'm fine no matter what I'm wearing, so it doesn't make much difference. But with the robes and everything, the whole getup is real stuffy. Who wants to be overheating constantly? Not this boy!
Not to mention, having the hood up makes a total mess of my hair.
I knew someone back in my world who dressed a lot like you did. Total traditional clothing otaku, she wore a kimono every day. Supposedly it's pretty comfortable if you put it on right.
[at least ishikirimaru never had to wear a mask]
Dressing up in other clothes can be pretty fun, though.
The right clothes can get people to sit up and take notice of you when they wouldn't otherwise. Or, if you need to blend in, you can make an outfit exactly for that. They're versatile, and there are so many different types of clothes that you can achieve what you want to get out of them while also feeling comfortable in what you're wearing. That's the whole point of fashion - finding an outfit that speaks to who you really are!
[he actually cuts off, there, as he gets a good look in a mirror; this isn't what ishi expected, honestly. he somewhat expected to look as ridiculous in this sort of outfit as he pictured himself being.
but he actually thinks he looks kind of cute? he still isn't exactly comfortable, his posture makes that clear, and he watches his reflection as he smooths out the skirt as if making sure it actually matches his movements.]
... you really are skilled at this, aren't you? I didn't think it would work that well.

[ishi might be old but he's got eyes tbh?]
Though I am not sure I can say much about anything being stuffy myself, given what I usually wear.
[old fashioned and So Much Fabric. he definitely cannot talk... at least he's branched out fashion-wise here.]

[at the mention of dressing up, though, he just.
glances back to the door, like he's looking beyond it.]
... I suppose it can be, at times, but I am not entirely certain how I feel about it.
[he has sexy costume trauma now, thanks. he's maybe slightly pink at the thought of that whole trial.]
Though it was nice to try something different last week.

Trying something new helps expand your horizons. Also, when you have a goal in mind, picking an outfit specifically for that goal can help you get it.
It's like, "Dress for the job you want, not the job you have," you know? ...eh, I dunno if anyone's ever said that to a sword before.

[not that he knows what else he'd want, anyway. going back to the shrine, maybe...?]
And I believe you have a point about that. Something like choosing the appropriate armor, isn't it?

[he's just always been perfectly comfortable as he is.
but he hums thoughtfully, there--]
Since you are more experienced with it, I am curious; do you think that what I already wear is what works best, or would you have chosen differently?

Unless you wanted to try something new, in which case you'd have gotten my full-course Before and After treatment!

[ishi gives him a little smile, there.]
If you have the time and inclination, then I do not see why not.
[senri's done a good job helping him pick different clothes, but he's curious.]

[time to
drag ishi right back out into the costume hall to look for some clothes]
Okay, first things first. Dealbreakers. What will you absolutely not wear?
no subject
[he'll follow easily enough, though, humming faintly as he considers.]
Nothing else truly comes to mind. Beyond that you may do as you like.

[run, ishi]

[he says that hesitantly, because he is pretty sure he sees where this is going,]
I'm not certain I have the shape for that.

[please stop him]

ishi thinks about it, still looking a little dubious, but-]
If that is what you would most like to do, then...
[he can indulge him on that this once. it's not like anybody else has to see.]

[insert a transformation sequence here where ishi gets dressed up in the outfit i showed you earlier]
There! What do you think?

[Also like
fashion is just fun]

[he's slowly adjusting to how it all looks, turning a bit in front of the mirror.]
-I am still unsure I would be comfortable going out dressed this way, though.
