... you know, the only reason I was even so open to you guys in the first place was because you already knew shit about me. But the more I talked to you all... the more I found that I didn't hate it? The gods ended up being my friends when the other participants weren't.

So my happy ending would be that all of us will be able to walk out of here hanging onto the good more than the bad. Even if we can't see it right away.

...I think that's a wonderful ending. [He sounds a bit nostalgic, but he's smiling nevertheless. ] All of you have had plenty to offer us. I don't know if we anticipated friendships with the participants, but it's as I've said before. You've made the last several weeks memorable.

I would very much like the same. Good memories...good friends. We all deserve that in the end.

I understand your reasoning. And this isn't the first time I've been asked to stay away from someone. You're the one who makes him the happiest, so it should only be right you're the one who gives and gets that kind of attention to him.

He's...simply one of those people you can't help but want to see happy, I suppose.

Even without all the... complicated stuff, that's always been difficult for me to figure out.

Why do you suppose that is? I guess I've had trouble with that, too.

... I just didn't know how to deal with you.

But, I also didn't know how to deal with Sincerity either, so I think it's just... your type...

...your type is very familiar to me. [A half-smile.] Though I suppose I didn't quite know what to do either since the one you remind me of and I were at odds before I ascended anyway.

Senri and I didn't get along at all before coming here, and he's more similar to you guys.

...Hikaru and I have always been at odds about different things. Both of the twins and I have, actually. But they're still family and I have no regrets reaching out to them when I did.

Hikaru especially is very much like you...I believe you two would agree it's better not to get close to others, except for some exceptions.

I probably won't get along with him then.

[ taka, apparently, cannot get along with people who are like him at all. ]

[Give him a moment, he's digging into his pocket for a silver flip phone before opening it to click through photos. He'll just turn the screen to Taka so he can see a photo of the twins.]

Hikaru and Kaoru. [He nods.] Hikaru is the one who liked Haruhi, yes. I've known him for a few years now.

Ah... they look like they're probably bitchy.

[ taka was never taught to not judge a book by its cover ]

They are. But they're growing up and getting better. Their world's still expanding and they're learning to function...but there are some things that will never change.

You've compared me to like, two of your friends now.

Kyoya has his own quirks. ["Kyoya is also a little bitchy but I love him so it's fine."] You two are similar in your actions and how you hold people at arms length.

...he's my logical half.

[bakaomi]

He's the one who would call you dumb, right?

[divus]

Yes. He would call me incredibly dumb and perhaps a bit pathetic but he'd still support me anyway and ensure I played this game well because that's just what Kyoya does. He'd say it's for his own benefit, but I've known him long enough to know that isn't the case.

[A beat.] ...often times I think he's afraid and relies on me. So I have to do my best to make a world for people like him. [People who can live beyond their expectations. It's absolutely in part because of Kyoya.]

[bakaomi]

Huh.

[ it's not surprising to hear tamaki would have someone like that. he probably would have gotten himself into trouble otherwise. ]

It sounds like you're each other's babysitters.

[He actually laughs at that.]

Perhaps so. Kyoya was put in charge of me on my first day at Ouran...and after that he accompanied me on all of my trips to see the country. But he can handle himself fairly well on his own.

Is he also obnoxiously rich?

[ he assumes so since like, RICH ASS SCHOOL. ]

[A slow nod.] The Ootori family is well-renowned in the medical world, particularly in the line of health facilities and hospitals. His eldest brother works in the same hospital as their father, and his second eldest brother is in medical school with the same hopes.

...unlike them, Kyoya's doing things on his own time. I'm rather proud of him, actually.
