[He certainly seems to always be anywhere and everywhere.

Luna drifts her way over to the East Wing at a good pace and stops at the entrance to the auditorium -- just watching, quietly, the way she does most performances here. Taking it in, the rarity of art in a strange world. It's only once Indulgence has finished his dramatic exit stage center that she moves down, clapping gently all the way.

She seats herself in the front row, faint smile in place.]

Hello, Indulgence. It was a lovely performance.

[Not that she's really got standards, but you can't expect a roomba to do everything.]

So you're a performer, as well. I believe one of the others mentioned that you are a king. I do have to wonder what other surprises you have in store.

[Humility isn't what one looks for in a king, after all, and perhaps not in a leader, either. In Luna's life, that is -- there's no place for humility when what you really need are people who get shit done.

Things get real straightforward once you get there.]

But there are one or two orders of business first. [before the gossip, that is] Fortune. They're in an interesting state right now.

[She'll let him get away with his boastfulness; that's what she's been doing all this time, after all. It really doesn't bother her how pompous her current king is. That's not the important part for the moment.]

I suppose you were all aware that this could happen -- though not the exact details of it. Am I correct?

[There's been a lot of talk lately about how new all of the gods are to the job...]

I do wonder if this is an opportunity.

[There are a lot of implications behind that sentence. But she places it down delicately as one of the flowers she leaves in the offering bowl, and lets him take it as he likes.]

[On the other hand, she's almost always perfectly still, clear and calm water over darker depths. She merely leans forward, just a little bit, and holds his gaze.]

I'm sure you're aware. We've been speaking for some time about how the number of gods may be reduced -- it was a theme this past trial. There are those of us impatient to cut down on the numbers.

What stopped these plans was, of course, the will of the majority. There are many among the gods and contestants who would rather find a harmonious solution. The other factor was lack of information. Now that we have the information...

What would you like to do with Fortune?

I simply like to take care of things that get in the way of my most important goal. I suppose we have that in common.

[She's always been understated, this slender robot, but she works well with those who are her counterpoint. She moves best as the moon to someone's sun.

There's something freeing about it.]

Evaluate the risk. Yes, I think that may be a good option for this week -- see whether anyone is daring enough, and whether there is anyone defending her despite not being of her following. Though, I do wonder: you and your colleagues should have provisions for the death of a vulnerable god, shouldn't you? What happens when there is no god to call for payment?

I'm sure that there will be some sort of action. I doubt that every god is levelheaded, and we know already that not every follower will consult with their deity, or be able to pass up the opportunity to advance their wish more quickly.

[She's quiet for a moment, thinking it through.]

It's true that we can leave it up to others for the moment. But if Fortune is killed through whatever means, the game will change, as will the stakes.

Gods, I'm sure, will work harder to hold on to their followers. Those who love the peace will cling harder to their gods and each other. It's something to prepare for.
