I'll be speaking with-- Piety, later. I intend to talk to Luke as well, to make sure they were there overnight; I have no reason to believe he'll mislead me, at least not intentionally.
[but the mention of ludger gets him to glance down, head slightly bowed.]
--you're likely right about Ludger, though. Whether he was involved or not, I... do not think it's the time.
[sometimes you have to make sure you're using the right name, okay!]
I knew Ludger's brother better than I do him, but- I think Luke is trustworthy enough, from what I know of him so far. We have something of an agreement, and if nothing else... I hope he'd at least be smarter than to tell me he'd be there if he meant to act.
[he's not elaborating on the agreement part, though.]
...it's possible they weren't the only ones, or that I simply wasn't able to see anyone else. Perhaps I was also there at the wrong time.
[or maybe she left and he failed to notice. he would really prefer not to think of either of them being involved.]
It'll probably make more sense tomorrow once you guys are in trial but...that's the other thing. [And here he pauses, expression more serious.] Are you going to tell other people what you guys saw? I don't know how with Fortune's rule in place, but...
Senri already knows I'm with you, so he's safe to tell.
... but even without Fortune's rule, I'm not sure how we'd be able to tell everyone without us having to switch our alignment after. It's kind of a dangerous power for other people to find out you have.
[that gets a nod of agreement from ishi, as he adds-]
I have someone who's already aware of mine, as well.
[can't reveal anything if they already know, after all.]
I don't think that we can outright tell anyone beyond the couple of people we've just mentioned, to keep ourselves safe... but that will at least be four people instead of two who have that information. Then we're no longer the only ones who can use it, without putting ourselves at too much risk.
If what we know becomes relevant, rather than outright saying so, then we help lead others to the right conclusions. Ask the appropriate questions, and so forth.
[Without realizing it there's a sigh of relief even if it's quiet. At least they have a plan, and...at least they'll stay for now. The idea of one or both of them leaving makes him nervous but that's a later discussion anyway.]
As long as you think it's necessary and you can lead them to that conclusion, that makes sense. It might be relevant, it might not. Your trials are always...interesting. [A Mess, actually.] I don't want either of you doing something that'll put you in danger, but this has got to stop. Going after Fortune was taking it too far.
[ishi hates the trials, what else is new, honestly.
but he's quiet for a moment there, brow furrowed.]
I'd considered the possibility before. She's the one I spoke of it with in the first week, actually. But... I hoped that it wouldn't actually end up coming to this.
[maybe he should have offered to stay with her, been there just in case.]
...what I'm worried about is everybody whose numbers are gonna shift after this weekend. If we get more gods with low numbers, people might get the idea this sort of thing is okay. [No!!!] We're halfway there, and I hate to ask this of you guys, but...continuing to try and keep a watch at night will help. Especially since I can't interfere.
Listen to Ishi. [Jack is just shortening all sorts of Japanese names.] I want you guys to stick together. But...let's hope nobody else goes to zero. Some of them might be dangerously close though. What then?
[ taka cannot believe he needs a babysitter because he keeps watching people get murdered ]
... the trouble is that we can't switch til the end of the week. If we're lucky, the only person who's into the god killing thing is whoever did it this time, so if we catch them...
...if we catch them, others will still know it was possible. Even if there's only one now, this may create more-- we hoped there wouldn't be others willing to kill fellow participants as well, and we see how that has gone.
[a shake of his head, there.]
All we can do is try to protect them if they become vulnerable. I'm unsure that we could actually manage to boost the numbers of anyone dangerously low, much as I hate to say so... even if people are willing, if we kept pulling from gods with more followers to save those with few to none, wouldn't creating a more even spread make it harder to reach a majority in the end? Not to mention that defecting from another god without many followers to save another just creates more risk, if none are willing to leave one that has a stronger following.
[He points at Ishikirimaru then.] That. That right there is what I'm thinking about. Now that the possibility's out there, if someone wants to try to end the game early...they know it's a route they can take.
The numbers are going to be imbalanced at the end, and the thing is...aligning with a god you don't believe in just to save them isn't exactly the best idea either. You can protect them, I'm not saying you shouldn't...but I want you to think about it before you do it. Those are all great points.
I don't want to see any of us die after this, but I don't want to see something false come into play either.
... well, even if you switch alignments to protect someone else with a low number, we don't actually know what the follower count is until after defection day. You switching could be enough to send the person you were with down to zero, since you don't know if other people might switch too.
I don't intend to try to protect any by aligning myself with them. Besides not being a safe enough strategy-- I would prefer not to leave just for that.
If anyone else is left without followers, I think it'll be better to try to stay with them on Thursday night, if they'll let us.
You two are good options to protect any of the gods who drop to zero. [...] But I want to be honest. There's another one of you who has the same ability you two do. They're just not using it.
If you can find them and convince them to help, maybe that'd work out, too.
Well, I can tell you they're not using it for anything as important as what you two are doing. [Is he...annoyed? A little.] I'd speak to them myself but they've never come to see me.
You guys might have better luck if you can find them.

But you only saw Piety and Ambition...do either of you know if Luke and Ludger were still in the house?

... although I guess it might be better to ask Luke than Ludger at the moment.
