I'd say he's not real, but Merriment would argue with me. [He rolls his eyes.] I never really believed in those kind of figures anyway, so no worries.

Did all of you meet just immediately after ascending?

More or less. I don't think it's that weird since most of the people I met before were under questionable circumstances, but it might've freaked the rest of them out. We had a few minutes to figure out who we were and then suddenly we were part of the new pantheon. We got to talking and to arguing about what we were supposed to do, our combusted...and now here we are.

Wait.

So... what was the approximate time table between meeting and this game forming?

Man..about a month? Then Piety stepped in and we called out to you guys. We made the rules, put in bids for you and brought you here.

[bakaomi]

I know. Don't give me that, we were working with what we had. Besides, I've made friends and enemies even faster than that.

I think that was the case here too.

Probably. [There's a shrug.] ...I met my best friend inside a dragon's cave. We traveled across the country together for a few years after that, until somebody found us to bring us back to camp. You'd be surprised how fast you can get along with people in situations like that.

[The difference, of course, is that Takasen maybe get a happy ending and Thalia kicked Luke off of a goddamn cliff.]

...it's a weird thing to think about, but all twelve of us kind of split into our separate groups right away. We found people we were drawn to for whatever reasons. Merriment went to Justice and Piety because of his whole thing with kids. Love and Beauty are both actors of varying degrees, so they get along. They get along with Indulgence on a lesser level for the same reason. Ruin liked me because of the things I was capable of...makes you wonder what would've happened if we did have more time.

... yeah, you never know. Your relationships could be very different right now.

We would've had the same problems I think. That's the one downside to all of us being from such drastically different worlds. It's the other reason I want to create something fair.

Do you think that being here might have changed things for some of you?

...you're good at keeping secrets, aren't you? Keep this one. Things absolutely changed for me and it's kind of been freaking me out.

Yeah. My ideas for the world and everything haven't changed or anything, but approaching things and motivations might've.

...ever come up with a plan and go through with it because you think it's gonna be the end of the line, but then things turn out differently and you have to live past what you planned for? It's sorta like that. I've had more time than I wanted to actually think about things.

It makes sense. No matter how much you prepare, sometimes things just happen and you have to... figure things out as you go.
