... I'll see what I can do. I know I'm just one person though and I get pissed off easily, but sometimes if someone tries to direct things a certain way, others follow.

Yeah, I know. [He finally sits up at least, shifting to where his back's against the wall next to his bed but staying seated on the mattress.] ...back in my world, once, somebody stole Zeus's master lightning bolt from Olympus. Because he and his two brothers, Poseidon and Hades, had this ongoing pact and feud happening thanks to a prophecy, they started pointing fingers at each other and flipping out. At the time, Poseidon was the only one who had a kid that was around and present and accounted for. This kid and a bunch of other people assume that because Hades was pissed he didn't have a seat on the counsel, Hades stole the bolt to start a war in Olympus. So this kid and a few of his friends head to the Underworld to try and get the bolt back. Later they found out that Hades' held of darkness went missing, too. So this whole thing blows out of proportion, gods start fighting with each other, blah blah blah…everybody starts jumping to all kinds of conclusions...

…and they never actually caught the real thief because he was busy doing something else in the background that was even bigger than they could dream of. By the time they found out? It was a little too late for them to stop the beginning of the end.

So. What do you take away from that? [Is Taka smart? We don't know.]

We're fucking ourselves over by assuming things and fighting each other, because all that's doing is wasting the time that could be used for catching the killer.

[A slow clap.] Exactly. Like the Olympians, you guys have some people on your team that're ready to jump down each other's throats and don't know how to control themselves even when they're cursed. That's not really conductive.

But knowing that, I've heard it helps to actually break things into parts.

[Hm. He may just be spouting bullshit, or he may be helping. Hard to say.]

We'll see. I can't really say how trial is going to go because something always ends up blowing up.

Probably. That's when you get smarter and learn to put out the flames faster.

[...he's just grabbing a slice of pizza.] All of this cryptic stuff is kind of exhausting by the way. So. Can we just talk like normal people for a bit?

Yeah, sure. Since technically this isn't an audience.

Cool. [Chewing for a bit...] Not that I really know how to do that anymore, but whatever. I always figured that'd be something to get reacquainted to in the new world.

And yet you spend most of your time with us. What's up with that? [Finishing his pizza slice…] Not that it's a bad thing. Supposedly a lot of the others are learning things from you guys anyway. If rumors are to be believed.

... it was just easier talking to you guys.

Because everybody else is a bunch of do-gooders who want to hold hands and make friends and overshare? [He sounds. Exhausted.] Making friends isn't as easy as everybody seems to think it is anyway.

[ he snorts ]

And then it turns out you have to actually talk to people to learn anything in a game like this.

It's a shitty design either way. On the one hand, you're earning your information. On the other hand, some people won't talk to you or listen to what you have to say anyway, so how are you supposed to get information like that?

It's not even about talking to people. It's about talking to the right people.

... the only reason I even have my closest connections is because of Senri.

[ taka is reminded every single day of how dead he'd be if it wasn't for his boyfriend ]

[A small scowl.] Is that why he kept pressing the whole idea about being open and trusting people? No wonder.

He thinks he's only good at getting info.

Yeah. That used to be me. [An aside...] He's definitely nosy enough to get all kinds of info, but he's good at connecting with people. Ambition and Disorder seem to like him enough.

He's the favorite of a lot of people.

I'm pretty sure he's going to avoid me for the rest of the game, so I'll take your word for it.

Gotta say, I'm trying to decide how I feel about that. Seems to be sort of working out? [A shrug.]

...but I can see the difference. I don't mind, but I'm surprised it took me so long to notice.

[ taka didn't even realize they were doing this so he, too, is surprised it took this long ]

I guess if we ever divorce it'll be easy to decide on who gets who...
